nonstop

like a train
running
without end
seemingly
churning
across states
careening
through
passing hours
searching
for wasteful
meaning
and seeing
life beyond
a horizon
running
north to south
and then
south to north

head in the sky

i often wonder
about stars in the sky
and i wonder
if you do the same

what a lovely thought
two heads in the air
floating away
from where they both came

when the rain stops

neon green
and silent
sans a creek
of water
rushed
renewed
and ground
that gives way
to bare feet
and holds
puddles
from the past
walking
through it
feels like
discovering
something new
that no one
has laid
eyes on
before you

Terra Firma

May 16, 2014 § 3 Comments

Hold the earth reverent
in the palm of your hand,
for without its surface
legs could not stand

Bury its darkness
and inevitable plight,
for its surface only gives
without any respite

Such is our great vale
a giver of accord,
of which we never truly realize
til the last of it is poured

Caught

like your wild eyes
I never stopped running
toward the dancing flame

Once

I often wonder
about sand and stars and if
they were once all one.

Float

I try to freeze time
And place it far away
Suddenly, forcefully
Pause the seconds
Building to years
Bridges, moments
I try to write it all down
Find space for it
On an anchored ship
Battling an ocean
And those perfect moments
That somehow stay afloat
I sometimes worry
Are far too insignificant
To be carried by the waves
For much longer

sky

sweet strokes of beauty
like pink icing on a cake
the clouds at sunset

Sun

the way life shines
is in the simplicity
of the sun’s daily rising

Sky

no matter how many times
the world shakes
or how many snaps
my camera takes
or how many skies
the storm quakes
or how many formations
the wind makes
or how many oceans
gravity breaks
or how many patterns
the condensation snakes
or how many landscapes
the sun awakes
I will never cease to be amazed
by the beauty that a cloud creates
